Color Capture App Reviews

OMG, best color tool since the printing press.

Youve got to try this app. For real, supper cool and amazing for anyone whos ever wondered about what color something is. Thanks Benjamin Moore. Not only do you have the finest paint ever made, but the bling to go with it. A solid 5 for sure.

Grey for everything

Took numerous colour photos and the app matched everything to the same set of grey shades. Yes the photos were colour.

Joke

This is more of a toy for kids and idiots. The app can even read a sample of its own Ben Moore own paint samples it comes up with random color names. If you want to f- up your house this app will get the job done. Stay away its an marketing tool own.

Dont listen to 1 stars.

Theyre just not spending the time to figure out the app. After you take a photo an choose to use it, you have to touch the area of the photo you want. If you dont touch the photo it will stick to the default colors in the center and never change regardless of how many pictures you take. In the few pictures Ive taken this has really helped. The app is good. Its just specific to painting. Whch it should be.

Lousy app - a waste of time

Downloaded from the Canadian iTunes store, the app does not have any Canadian Benjamin Moore store locations - I live in Toronto, the closest store it finds is in New York state. You cannot input or search a colour by name or number which is completely useless if you want to create a list of paint colours youve already used in your house. Great paint, lousy app.

Extremely Inacurate

I am a Benjamin Moore dealer north of Toronto and after trying this app I was very disappointed. It is extremely innacurate, even using it on one of BMs own color cards. Iv had a few customers complain that we mixed a colour wrong, however it was the customers fault for using a color they choose from this app. You just cant get an accurate color reading from a cell phone camera, period.

Pretty neat-o

Quite cool. Captured colors arent perfect but pictures never render colors 100% accurately anyway. Really clever program that does provide good suggestions of possible color families and pallettes you can try based on something youve seen and know you like.

Capture problems

OK in full sunlight applications, but inside under normal lighting conditions it seems to default to black or grey for dark colours.

Better than the reviews suggest.

Works pretty well. Helpful for finding the colour range of something you see.

Great Idea, bad implementation

The idea is great... But the missing features are what kill the app Canadian stores??? I will play with this app in my paint store some more, but without an update there isnt much to do with this!!!

seems pretty good, actually

Store locator works fine- found the dealer just up the street here in Vancouver. Color matches look very good, as long as youre photographing in decent light. I like the harmony suggestions. Fun.

Useless - Does Not Work At All

Great idea, too bad it doesnt work at all. Tried every possible way, in all conditions and still cant get this app to work as advertised. Dont waste your time.

This works as its supposed to

I cant get over the number of people who review things when they dont use it properly. This app does exactly what it says it does. I took a picture of my multi coloured sofa in low lighting, touched various areas of it and got an array of 7 colour matches for each different colour in the picture.its brilliant. A pox on dumbasses who cant follow simple instructions.

Come to Canada Ben!

This is a fantastic app. The only problem is that I live in Canada and the colour chips are all American names and numbers. Sure wish there was a Canadian version!

Does not work at all!!!

Yes, i am following the instructions. This app does not match the colors correctly. Tried 50 different colors too!!! Never works.

Terrible

No matter the color in the picture itll represents Kenntucky Haze

Great concept, colors off

First to those that say it doesnt work- you have to touch a spot on your captured image to get the color-LoL! Second, it seems that there is a second app with a red icon-this seems to be the canadian version. Finally as neat as the concept is, the colors of the captured image are not quite the same as the original item which renders the matching pointless.

UI is terrible

No instructions, and difficult to figure out how to use this which is why there are so many negative reviews. The colors are off and not accurate. The sample styles you see in the 2nd iPhone screenshot supplied is just a scanned pdf which takes forever to magnify. Really this should have been refined for the iPad instead.

Good idea, poor follow through

It took 4 or 5 pictures to get a remotely similar color. Then all the suggestions were a shade of the same color. The color wheel is a good idea to small and too difficult to control the position. The sales booklet that BM copied are too small and cant be magnified so I couldnt read them. And who cares if I could locate the store if I am already upset with the app.

Canada does not exist....

...........according to this app, even though there are stores called "Benjamin Moore" in every town. There are several in my area. The colour numbers are different in Canada, and the app is for "US colors". This is what I was told by the stores, and they didnt even recognize some of the number codes generated. On a positive note, would be great if it worked
